Good evening from Viki! I shall be bringing you some fashion finds of the Northern variety with plenty of vintage/retro inspired ensembles mixed in and the odd charity shop treasure along the way!
The best place to start for vintage and secondhand clothing is Manchester's Nothern Quarter, a true test of a shopper's dedication and resilience when faced with a glorious jumblesale of the good and the not so good.
Affleck's Palace on Church Street is a delectable multi-storey maze of fashion ranging from the frankly terrifying to the quirkily chic, the latter being my much preferred end of the spectrum. Love Me Again is a beautiful independant shop who rescue and reuse damaged and unwanted clothes to create one of a kind pieces. Me&Yu is one of my favourite sellers at Affleck's and a regular stop off for Manchester girl Agyness Deyn with its piles of candy coloured earrings and quirky gold pendants, crayola coloured scarves and an amazing collection of printed streetwear. Check out their website at http://www.meandyu.com/ to see all their different collections and what inspires them. I find Wanderland Boutique and Lost Property never fail to offer up a floral bargain or a cosy cardy and some of the dresses are incredible feats of stylistic engineering. Who knew velvet and shoulder pads could be combined in so many ways? Perhaps certain garments that should be reserved for The Very Brave and fancy dress. And never fear, when the innevitable fatigue sets in the cafe on the top floor always has good things to munch on...
The tour shall continue!
Love & Kisses.
